Small Olympic Envoys Enter TJ Museum

On March 20th, 2008, “Small Olympic Envoys” came to Tianjin Museum. They called for the visitors to visit in a civilized way in the Exhibition Hall with the slogan of “Olympic Civilization should be started from me”, aiming at driving the people around to improve their moral qualities and to create a civilized visiting order.

On the occasion of the coming of 2008 Olympics, to respond to the call of “to welcome the Olympics, to be civilized, to build new ethos” and to give a full play of the educational function of the Museum, TJ Museum, Civilization Office of Hexi District Committee, and Shanghai Road Primary School organized the social practice jointly. Their slogan was “As a small Olympic Envoy, I’ll take the lead and enjoy the happiness first”.

Taking the theme of “Walking into History, Experiencing Humanism, Educating ourselves and Transmitting Civilization”, the activity cultivated the teenagers’ consciousness of civilization and practical abilities. Meanwhile, it helped to realize their dream of contributing to the Olympics. In the afternoon of 20th, the opening ceremony of the activity was held in the Hall of TJ Museum. After the ceremony, following the teachers, the primary students entered the Exhibition Halls in groups.

Aiming at the impolite behaviors of the visitors, the envoys reminded them politely and persuaded them patiently. They also handed out brochures about civilized visit. Their seriousness and enthusiasm moved lots of visitors who expressed that they were willing to obey the rules and to help the students to maintain the orders and promote the forming of the new custom of civilized visit.

The activity is a new measure TJ Museum takes to go into the communities and schools. It not only helps the students feel the charisma of Tianjin’s historical civilization, but also establishes a platform for the teenagers to transmit civilized etiquette, develop the Olympic spirit and serve the Olympics. During the activity, the envoys made efforts to create a tidy environment and a civilized visiting atmosphere. They tried their best to make the visits orderly and contributed to the presentation of the spiritual style of Tianjin people.

According to the introduction of the host party, there will be small envoys in the “Happy camp” of other communities come to TJ Museum in succession to experience the history and transmit civilization.
